Padam Shree Dr. Rajani Kant

Secretary Human welfare association

Dr Rajani Kant, general secretary of the Human welfare association and Padam Shree Recipient 2019, fought to secure the artisan's rights. Human welfare is a grass-root level NGO, and Dr Rajani has been working there for the last 30 years for the betterment of the marginal community, including children, youth, women and handicraft artisans or weavers. He has implemented various projects with the full support and participation of the community and government departments, and international departments. While playing a significant role in promoting handicraft products made by the artisans, he firmly believes the Geographical Indication (GI) denotes the names and signs used on certain products corresponding to a specific geographical location. Working in the human welfare department, he has focused on women economic empowerment and children rights by targeting more than 5000 women and 125000 children and their sustainable livelihood. Dr Kant has also addressed the environmental development plan and protection of traditional crafts. Completing his PhD in soil and agriculture chemistry-botany from Banaras Hindu University, he has served as a research associate in the join social development organization. He has always been working for the betterment of society by eliminating as many social issues as possible and hence, has achieved numerous awards for his selfless zeal to serve the Nation. Padam Shri 2019 for Social service and National Intellectual Property Award 2017 and Samay Udyami Awards 2012 are the noblest awards he has achieved for his selfless social service in the advancement of society.

Dr. SK Nanda, IAS (Retd.)

Officer batch 1978, Gujarat

Dr S.K Nanda is a retired IAS officer and has performed different responsibilities over different positions in the government of Gujarat during his career. He has successfully handled the key government departments such as health, tourism, information, finance and forest etc. Having a rich experience in the field of administration and management, finance, health and many other. Investing a huge amount of time in various departments, he has imparted his knowledge by writing books and articles on professional importance. Handling of disaster in 1996 is one of the major achievements among his numerous achievements.

He has handled the portfolio of Tribal Development and Information Dept. as well as working as Electricity Board Member and as Managing Director of Gujarat State Financial Corporation, which addressed the financial issues of small industries and finance-credit need doctors and small entrepreneurs. The concept of medical tourism was mooted first time in the market, issuing cheap and affordable health care in the State. He served as Managing Director of Gujarat State Financial Corporation between 1994 and 2001. He has received numerous notable awards, including a commendation from the PMO for his excellent performance in the health sector in the post-2002 riots. Best risk management solution, international excellence awards and gold medal, National award for manufacturing competitiveness says everything about his dedication and loyalty towards the Nation.

Vice Admiral Sunil Anand, AVSM, NM (Retd.)

Indian Navy

Vice Admiral Sunil Anand, AVSM, NM, is an alumnus of the Indian Naval Academy and has assumed duties of Controller of Logistics. On July 1, 1983, he was commissioned into the Indian Navy as a flag officer with numerous higher responsibilities and challenging appointments. On his journey of serving the Nation as a flag officer, he took over the position of Controller of Logistics (COL) of the Indian Navy via promotion to the rank of Vice-Admiral in May 2017. As a Logistics Officer, he has served on-board INS Sutlej, INS Krishna, as a part of the commissioning crew. Moreover, the officer has also been a part of the Defence Service Staff College, Wellington, and the naval war college, Goa, for his higher command. Amongst various appointments ashore, Vice Admiral Sunil Anand NM has served as Command Logistics Officer, Material Superintendent at the western naval command, Command logistics officer of Tri services command at Andaman and Nicobar. He has shown his tremendous contributions towards the restoration of critical infrastructure against the devastating tsunami that occurred in December 2004 and was awarded commendations from the Chief of the Naval Staff and the Flag Officer Commanding Andaman and Nicobar Command. Moreover, he is a keen swimmer and an avid reader who has been using his learnings and experience for the betterment of society and, ultimately Nation. The officer was recently awarded ATI VISHIST SEWA MEDAL in 2019 by the President of India for his distinguished service.

Shri Chandra Prakash, IAS (Retd.)

Officer batch 1982, UP

Shri Chandra Prakash is a former IAS officer of the 1982 batch UP cadre. He was also appointed as Additional Chief Secretary and social welfare commissioner. Having a keen interest in Agriculture and ecology, he has always endorsed into the welfare of humans and society. Fight for the dignity of humans and labour along with the spiritual field are some of his hobbies. Despite completing his master's in political science, he has accomplished numerous diploma courses such as General Administration, Good governance, and labour problems from various international renowned universities. For around one and a half years, Shri Chandra Prakash has worked on a project funded by World Bank. Serving the Nation with full enthusiasm and sincerity, he rendered 38 years of his service and retired in 2019 from commissioner social welfare. As of now, Shri Chandra Prakash is persistently applying his gained knowledge and experience over the welfare of our society through various means.

DGP Arun Kumar Sharma, IPS (Retd.)

Officer batch 1987, Gujarat

Arun Kumar Sharma is IIT Kanpur Alumni and IPS officer of the 1987 batch. A former joint director of CBI has been appointed as the Director-General of Police (DGP) of Gujarat on 15 January 2021. He was special commissioner of Ahmedabad Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) and served as Central Reserve Police force (CRPF) in New Delhi. Coming from Bihar, he has worked in different parts of India, and majorly in Gujarat. He has undergone numerous professional training and conferences held nationally as well as internationally. Anticorruption, digital finger printing, and Indo UK police conference are some of the highlights. Holding several positions of distinction and distinct high responsibilities, he has immaculately served the Nation. Performing his duty with loyalty piled him up with numerous achievements and awards. Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Services and President's police medal for distinguished service in 2003 and 2013 are his greatest achievements. Arun Kumar Sharma is a skilled leader with equally rich experience heading various police departments and insights into police cooperation in the matter of investigation and recovery of assets. Rendering 33 years of serving the Nation, he has become proficient in managing the public order in a communally tense situation and vigilance issues.

Air Cmde Mrigindra Singh, VSM (Retd.)

Indian Air Force

Air Commodore Mrigindra Singh, VSM was born in Rewa on 20th Sept 1962. He did his initial schooling from Sainik School Rewa. After his training at National Defence Academy (NDA) Khadakwasla, Pune and Air Force Academy, Hyderabad, he was commissioned in the Indian Air Force as a Fighter Pilot on 22nd Dec 1983. During his service in IAF, Air Cmde Mrigindra Singh has flown different types of fighter aircraft such as Mig 21, Mig 23, Mig 29, Jaguar and Su 30 MKI. He has operated from various operational airfields on Pakistan and China borders and participated in operations such as Kargil.

He has done Staff College course from DSSC, Wellington and is a graduate from Jawahar Lal University and post graduate from Madras University. For his relentless hard work, unwavering loyalty and devotion to the service of IAF and the nation, Air Cmde Mrigindra Singh was awarded Vishisht Seva Medal by the President of India on 8th Oct 2004. He was also awarded Commendation Cards by the Chief of Air Staff and AOC-in-C. He is well known by his subordinates for his leadership qualities and motivational skills. Rendering 35 years of service to the nation, he worked with zest and zeal for learning and achieving goals. After retiring from the Indian Air Force in Sep 2018, he has settled down in Bhopal and is now devoting his time working for the welfare of under privileged members of our society.
